This event is in partnership with Supervisor Sheila Kuehl and the Santa Monica Organizations Active in Disasters (SMOAID). SMOAID is a coalition of local business, government agencies, non-profits and service organizations that strive to prepare the community before a disaster and pledges to serve after one.
Presenter Nigel Taylor, Disaster Action Team Leader for the Red Cross, presents on disaster preparedness. It is no longer a matter of if a disaster strikes, join us for a morning of putting together a comprehensive disaster plan.
In this seminar, you will learn that the economic and human casualty figures experienced during Northridge pale in comparison to an even more devastating (one in one thousand year) fault system event threatening the Los Angeles area and how woefully underprepared we as residents actually are for the next “big one”. Most importantly you’ll learn why nobody (Fire, Police, Paramedics or FEMA) will be there for you for days and possibly weeks when devastation strikes and finally, what you need to do NOW to begin the process of preparing yourself, your family and your business for “when” (NOT if) the next massive earthquake or natural disaster strikes.
